Blu-Ray Review: The Wizard of Oz

The perfection that is The Wizard of Oz comes from the year 1939. That year was full of classic films like Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, Gone With The Wind and this one...The Wizard of Oz. The whole film sparkles with wonder and beauty.

This film is about Dorothy, who helps on her parents' farm. She has many troubles and wonders what to do with her life. Soon, a tornado sweeps her up away from her troubles into the Land of Oz. There, she'll discover herself and evil beyond comprehension.

You really couldn't even find a better film anywhere. Every single musical number, set and actor seem to be having the time of their lives in such a picture as this. The song Over The Rainbow is one that I can belt out anytime perfectly. Hey, little bluebirds can do it, why can't I?!?!

The acting here also has some good stuff going for it. Ray Bolger is stunning as the Scarecrow, as is Judy Garland as Dorothy. The Witch may be the greatest villain ever put on the screen. If you think Hannibal Lector is frightning, wait till you see The Witch of The West!!



You'd have to go over the rainbow for a better film. This is surely a testament to the greatness in Hollywood. One of the greatest ever crafted.

Blu-Ray Review: Star Trek

J.J. ABrams has made many-a classic things this decade. Lost, Alias and Mission Impossible 3 (the former is probably at the bottom fo the classics though). You would think though, J.J. would be horrid to create the film. He didn't even know what Tribbles were!! HE...DIDN'T...KNOW....WHAT.....TRIBBLES....WERE!!! However, he's the best thing that's happened to this franchise sincE Khan was shouted.

In this reboot, Kirk finds himself joining Starfleet Academy with Bones, Spock Uhuara and Sulu and soons learns of aa time-traveling Romulan who plans to use an Elder Spock for his own datardly deeds...

This film has some great visuals, but it's the comedy, heart and action that just blow you away. Spock is truly heartfelt here and comedy comes in spades, mainly thnaks to Scotty played by Simon Pegg. (surprisingly, Tyler Perry is in here, but dosen't crack a smile!!) The opening, like Up, is worth any price alone to see. It's wonderful and very real. You feel like your in the midst of the great Star Trek battle.

This is easily the best Star Trek film ever and, honestly, I'm excited to see what a sequel might bring to the table. Warp speed to your nearest store to pick up this grand item.

Film Review- 2012

Roland Emmerich directs this film. He has destroyed the world with lizards, aliens (twice!!) and global warming. Now it's time for the ultimate rapture. 2012. But first, let me just say something. This may not be the best review for the film because I'm biased. I adore disaster films because they pit ordinary people at Holy Moly circumstances. Volcano and Amraggeddon and The Towering Inferno are among the best disaster films and 2012 joins them.

The film is about an author and limo driver played by John Cusack who's divorced and having a rough patch in his life. On a vacation to Yellowstone Park with his kids, he meets Charlie Frost (Woody Harrelson), who knows that the world will end on December 21, 2012. He takes his family (and his ex-wives new boyfriend) off to China, where ships are being made...and the population has begun to spread there in hopes of solace.

This is a great film with wonder ful visuals (astounding water) and great iconic moments (The JFK aircraft carrier rides on a tsunami and crashes into the White house). This film is not one to be missed. I would recommend it immediatly.
